Webinar 10.7: Deploying Circular Economy at the grassroot level

In this event, Adriana Marina (founder of the NGO Hecho por Nosotros and animaná) will host Anita Ahuja. They will be discussing patented upcycling techniques for plastics and textiles along with the challenges of deploying circular economy principles on the ground with different target communities - urban wastepickers, regufees and artisans.

About the speaker:

Anita is a social entrepreneur and change-maker passionate about transforming the relationship with waste through up-cycling, skill-training for urban poor communities, sustainable enterprise development and branding. Anita is an Ashoka fellow with over 20 years experience building an organization that transforms domestic and industrial waste (plastic and textile) into high-end fashion.

She believes that change happens on both a micro- and macro- level. "While it always begins with the individual, we also have to find sustainable solutions to up-cycle and re-use waste streams from industrial partners and only by coming together can we make a significant impact on one of the biggest social and environmental problems facing our country".

At this stage, she's seeking to share the wealth of her knowledge and experience (including patents) with any corporation, university, NGO, or social enterprise committed to reducing plastic and textile waste.

Join Adriana Marina and Anita Ahuja on Friday July 10 at 12:30 PM (Buenos Aires Time).
